  • Defunct

Corkscrew from up in the air far off. You can see the entire track.

Alright I can safeley assume that everyone knows this ride, even if you think you dont know this ride. Yes you do. This is probably the most infamous coaster ever put on film, the star of Final Destination 3: Devil's Flight. Or as it was actually called: Corkscrew

Built by Vekoma in 1994 its your classic corkscrew layout, in fact its not that notable aside from the fact that Playland is a great filming location and there for got to star in a few movies!

Final Desination 3

Alright here it is, the main attraction.

Corkscrew from the side, you can see the entire track

Finally got around to this entry! I think this is probably the most famous roller coaster scene ever, traumatizing a generation with the most hokey roller coaster accident.

The most notable appearance for coaster happens as the group of characters we're following are talking about getting in line for Devil's Flight later so they won't have to wait for hours another day.

Corkscrew's corkscrew, the train is halfway through it.

Now if you've never heard of Final Destination the general premise is that someone in the main character group will have a vision of a horrible disaster happening that results in their, and all the people with them's deaths, they somehow prevent it from happening and then Death feels cheated and hunts the characters down for the rest of the movie with some really campy kills. Personally I've never seen any Final Destination in its entirety but my friend who has says that "...1 is really campy but I'm not sure it was intentionally so like it tries to play things more seriously, but also the kills are still very cartoon like, 2 was a bit more self aware but was also trying to be a well connected sequel to 1 and build on its lore in a serious way that works in some ways but not others, 3 I think hits the best balance they're fully aware the kills are campy and silly but still give actual care to the plot and the way the characters try to circumvent it." (Thanks Teryn!) Given that, the character that causes the crash with his camera actually doesn't ride the roller coaster once the vision ends and the main character freaks out and gets nearly everyone off the train and the crash happens anyway so go figure!

A fun little making of note they shot the scenes in on the roller coaster over 3 days, riding the coaster somewhere around 22 times the first night and then broke the record for that many times over the course of the shoot.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid:Dog Dogs

One of the last movies I ever expected to have a roller coaster in it is a sequal to the live action Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. And while the characters don't ride the coasters there Corkscrew does appear in the background of one of the shots!

Corkscrew in the background of a shot. The main characters are loading into the ride 'Cranium Shaker

You only get to see Corkscrew for a few moments as Greg and Rowley are getting loaded into the Cranium Shaker, which is a SkyScraper ride in real life.

Trigger Warning for the movie: Suicide and Sexual Assult

Does the Dog Die for the movie

This movie is not for the faint of heart so please keep in mind the trigger warnings if you're interested in watching it.

Corkscrew, you can see the lift hill and corkscrew on the left of the image, the characters are walking on a path through the middle.

Really the only look of Corkscrew in the movie, but damn it's a nice shot.
